Corporate Outings & Tournaments

Corporate, Charity and Alumni Outings

Sandy Burr Country Club offers a public course with a private club attitude towards pampering our guests. Our goal is to make your outing as pleasurable and relaxing as possible.

Sandy Burr Country club is pleased to offer large groups the exclusive use of 18 holes for shotgun outings, which may be booked for mornings or afternoons throughout the season.  We accommodate groups as few as sixteen or as many as 144 people.  Pricing for all outings includes greens fees, golf cars, use of hitting range, tournament scoring, golf shop credit for each golfer and exclusive use of an appropriate-sized function room.

With our historic golf course and remarkably convenient location, outing dates at Sandy Burr Country Club are in high demand by corporations and charities alike.

Separate from the golf, event planners will want to consider a range of food and beverage offerings for your attendees. The club will be pleased to work with you to meet all your refreshment and hospitality needs from Continental or Hot Breakfasts to Boxed or Buffet Lunches and Dinners that include BBQ's and Clam Bakes.

Golf Outing Formats

Sandy Burr Country Club recommends using one of these formats for your tournament. If you would like other format suggestions, our professional staff would be happy to assist you.

Scramble

Each player hits a tee shot; the team selects the best one and everyone plays from that spot. This procedure continues until the ball is holed out. Handicaps are not needed to play this format.

Modified Scramble

Each player hits a tee shot and the team selects the best one. Each player then hits his or her own ball into the hole from that spot. Handicaps can be used if desired.

Best Ball

Each player plays his or her own ball on every hole. For the team score, the best score is recorded. Handicaps can be used for this format to obtain a team net score. The score before handicaps is called the gross score.

Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Straightest Drive

These are the most popular contests to run during a golf tournament. If you have other contest ideas, please let us know. The recommended holes are:

  • Closest to the Pin - #3, #5, #10 and #13
  • Longest Drive - #1
  • Straightest Drive - #11
